Carlisle Baptist is a Church of ordinary people who meet together every Sunday to hear from the Bible about Jesus and the great things he has done. Started in 1880,we are a Bible-based, independent Church that seeks to serve Carlisle and in North Cumbria.
Here’s what you can expect if you visit us on Sunday morning:
When should I arrive? We start at 10.30am. Why not aim to arrive 10 or so minutes before the meeting begins. We serve hot drinks from 10.10am. Be sure to look for our welcome team as you come into the building. As well as welcoming you, they’ll try to answer any questions you may have.
Where does the church meet? You can find directions on this page.
What to wear? You don’t need to dress up to come to church. We want you to feel comfortable joining us. Please just come as you are – church is about the people you’re with, not the clothes you’re wearing.
Will I feel uncomfortable? We don’t want visitors to our church to feel uncomfortable. As a visitor, you won’t be singled out or asked to do anything you don’t want to do. You can feel free to arrive at the last minute, take a seat and listen in. You can leave whenever you like. We want you to remain as anonymous as you want to be, but we encourage you to introduce yourself to us – we’d love to meet you.
What will happen at the meeting?
There will be a time of singing - usually around 4 or 5 songs (3-4 minutes each) throughout the meeting. You’re welcome to sing along, or just listen in (the words will be provided).
There will be a time of prayer (again, you can just listen in as we pray).
There will be an update with church news and upcoming events.
A short section from the Bible will be read.
There will be a Bible talk (about 25 minutes in length).
We aim for our meetings to last about 75 minutes in total.
What about the kids?
Children have their own “Sunday Club” that starts after the first part of the meeting. You can find out more about stuff for children on this page. A creché is available for the very young.
What happens at the end?
We serve tea and fresh coffee, cold drinks, fruit and some tasty treats afterwards (all free of charge). It’s a great time to meet others.
Do I need to book a seat buy a ticket?
You don't need to buy a ticket or let us know you are coming, you can just turn up at 10.30am on any Sunday.
We’d love to see you this weekend.
Please contact us if you have questions that remain unanswered. We look forward to seeing you in the near future.
